The Glencoe Historic District is located on the east bank of the Haw river about three miles north of Burlington in Alamance County. It is a typical but remarkably well-preserved example of the nineteenth century industrial villages that once flourished in North Carolina's Piedmont region. The district covers a little more than 100 acres and consists of three parts: 1) a manufacturing and commercial complex; 2) a power and water system, and 3) a residential and social unit. -National Register of Historic Places, Glencoe Historic District |
